In a mentoring session last week I was explaining my journey to getting my bars contract manufactured and my mentee asked me how long it would take me to hand make a batch...⠀
⠀
This delivery is 5070 bars.⠀
When I moved to manufacturing this is about what I could make in a year, working in the kitchen 5 days a week.⠀
(And if you do the math, you'll see that that was no where near enough money for me to live on)⠀

So, full time work for a year orrrr they smash this out in a day.⠀
Yep.⠀
Mind.⠀
Blown.⠀

The fact that I can get my bars made for me, at the highest standard, to my exact specifications, by a local Ballarat family owned and run business makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world.⠀

I harvested about 20kgs of figs from a neighbour last week and got a bucket of heaven, aka @meredithdairy goats cheese from a farm gate shop.⠀
A slice of @countrystyle_smallgoods jamon and some Rosemary seed crackers completes this 11/10 combo.⠀

Aus Post and couriers are currently being slammmmed with bookings, as people are home and online shopping more than literally ever before.This is awesome for people like me that have lost all other avenues of income, but also means that there's some quite big delays on postage.I waited 2 weeks for these sick home compostable satchels (ABA certified like my wrappers!) from @hero.packaging and I'm still waiting on a top up of my biodegradable tape (which unfortunately means my deliveries are being sealed with plastic tape until my order arrives).

A customer emailed me yesterday chasing her order and the tracking tells me it was sent from Melbourne to Queensland back to Melbourne...to go to Kyneton.

The postal services are dealing with bigger volumes than ever at the same time that they're needing to change processes to work around no flights and keeping their staff safe.This isn't easy on any of us but all of my customers so far have been patient, polite, understanding and positive so thank you, you legends!

Open for (essential) business!The last 2 weeks I

Open for (essential) business!The last 2 weeks I've been bunkered down in Melbourne with my husband.His work @mciversteacoffee have juggled the roster into teams so all of his shifts are now with his housemate (and bff).
It's us three amigos going in to work together and home for dinner and games every day 😊They've closed the cafe front and are busy inside fulfilling online orders but have opened their side window to allow pick ups and take aways.Sales of my bars have actually jumped since they've been eye level 😆Most of my other stockists have had to close so I'm happy to have any avenue for sales at the moment.Thanks to everyone that's ordered online over the last couple of weeks.
Sending out packages of love has made me so happy.I hope you're going ok, getting some rest and if you need any bars, coffee beans or tea to get you through your time at home, come visit!

How has your morning routine changed since the COV

How has your morning routine changed since the COVID19 lock down?⠀

Since markets and events are cancelled, I've been laying low in Melbourne at my husband's house.⠀
⠀
Yep, we don't live together full time (yet) but we're together more often than not (he grew up in Ballarat and will be moving back there soon!) and this lockdown has meant I can be here all the time.⠀
⠀
Even though my husband's 6 foot 5, he actually eats a lot less than me.⠀
He's not a breakfast person and I get hangry (the other day he called me 'hangfurious' 🤣) if I haven't eaten by 10am so instead of cooking breakfast like I do at home, my routine is now to eat a bar after I get up, he makes us a coffee when he gets up (the guy loves a sleep in) and then we eat lunch together.⠀

My absolute favourite flavour is Aztec and one of these to start my day has been such a simple pleasure.⠀
⠀
